Quality set in stone

Mark is a stonemason who has carved a successful career, working for Her Majesty The Queen at Windsor Castle. He made all the kerbstones which line the public driveway up to the St George's Gate, to the side of King Edward lll's Tower for the 2002 refurbishment. He met HRH Prince Charles at the Skills Show in Birmingham NEC, whilst carving an Ionic Capital.

In addition, Mark made the drainage paving and channels for Lambeth Palace in London, home of The Archbishop of Canterbury. He also produced work for the Choir House Vestibule whilst working at York Minster, developing his carving skills further. Later, Mark went on to learn the skills of production masonry and expanded his knowledge in the field of conservation and restoration masonry.

He was privileged to produce a number of gravestones for The Commonwealth Wargraves Commission, and large tracery windows for churches in the North East of England. He has worked on countless prestigious projects and productions including churches, mosques and historical monuments. Also, he has worked voluntarily as a mason on the Halifax Parish Church, which has recently gained Minster status.

Mark's now turned his skills, knowledge and inspirations to create artwork/sculptures for his Pygmy Shrew collection. All of his pieces are unique/bespoke and are his own creation, made entirely by hand. Mark first started his career when he began his training at York College and one day hope to pass his skills and knowledge, onto the young and upcoming stonemasons of the future.

Mark hopes you enjoy his creations as much as he enjoys making them.
